Have the area that you are going to clip in well light.
Make sure the horse is clean as possible - dirt dulls the blades very quickly
Make sure that you use plenty of clipper lubricant
Check often to make sure the blades are not getting too hot
Outline the clip style you want to use with chalk
Pull loose skin taught
