[RC] LD and Traffic - Bruce Weary

I see an LD ride sort of like a drive home from work in freeway traffic. All of us drivers/riders are generally heading the same direction, with a mild urgency to get where we are going, although we aren't "racing" each other. Some of us certainly are going faster than others, some of us get lost, some even have accidents along the way. In fact, going ever faster than the posted speed limit, increases our chances of mistakes, accidents and harm. And, when we finally pull into the driveway, barge through the door, and yell "Honey I'm home!" who's spouse responds, "That's nice dear. What place were you?" or "I hope they clearly posted your driving time for all to see. It's really quite disrespectful towards you as a driver if they don't." LD rides should no more be a racing venue than our nation's freeways. NASCAR, now, that's something different entirely. Cars, yes, and pavement, yes, and high speeds, yes. But a presumed higher level of experience, skill and knowledege before they'll let you out there. And, when Darryl Waltrip returns to the freeway, he drives accordingly. Even he knows it's not a race. Bruce Weary
