[RC] Splints - Don Huston

I bought my current enduro horse from the race track as a 4yo. He is 10 now. He came with a splint on each front that did not seem to bother him. The left one has stayed the same all these years. Sometimes the splint on the right leg gets bigger and smaller but does not bother him when I squeeze it. Sometimes that leg will stock up after a 50 and once in a great while he will put the right leg down in such a way that it hurts him for just that step and he gets off it right away, usually we are walking when it happens. If it is a splint that won't heal can it be fixed and if so how? Thanks for any suggestions.
