[RC] Pulled Groin Muscle - Bruce Weary

Hi Chelsea--
What Susan says is true regarding pelvic fracture. I don't know how hard you fell, or the mechanism of your injury, but the bones of the pelvis are highly involved in the production of blood cells, and there is potential for severe internal bleeding in pelvic fractures. Having said that, it's very unlikely that you have a fracture, with your description of symptoms. If you can lie on your back and cross the ankle of the painful leg on the the knee of the other and let the knee relax to the floor without much pain, it may help rule out a groin pull. It's very likely that you may have jammed either the sacroiliac joint and/or hip joint in your fall. This causes mechanical pain that largely escapes medical examination such as x-rays. A practitioner skilled in manual therapy (usually a good chiro) should be able to screen you for fracture or other orthopedic damage, and if absent, fix the problem. Either way, you will need help figuring it out, so I would get medical attention just to be safe and proceed from there. Best news: There's nothing seriously wrong, and meaningful treatment begins. Better news: There is something seriously wrong and they found it early enough because you didn't delay medical attention. Your visiting family will understand. Dr Q, who knows a little bit about these things
