[RC] Amish Pulling Power - Bruce Weary DC

You all think you have problems with your trucks, and their ability to tow and stop your rig. Imagine the challenges the Amish endurance riders have. They are restricted to horse-drawn rigs only. They used to use the Cleveland Bay Team approach, but the newer models have an "All Draft" option, with choices of Clydesdale, Belgian, or Percheron, and a lesser expensive "Part-Bred" model. Sometimes they will mix in a Thoroughbred or two, for that extra "punch" needed to get up to cruising speed from the on-ramp. The horse's are often shod with borium, for extra braking power, like when a Honda Civic suddenly pulls in front and then slows down. Don't those idiots realize what it takes to slow down a big rig? And the highway patrol will help us with a flat tire, but they won't stop to nail on a shoe for these folks.
And what about re-feuling hassles? How many service stations can you stop in and say," Fill 'em up with weed free. And can you check the temperature on #2? I think he's runnin' a little hot."
They have to have a good windshield to deflect spontaneous manure ejection at 70 mph. Their cell phones are only good for as far as two orange juice cans and a ball of string will reach. Their generators consist of a team of four squirrels on a wheel, running for their little lives. These people have to leave their homes several days before the ride because of their slower traveling speeds. But it's nice for them to get away to an endurance ride, and get a break from their work, which, ............uh,.........involves operating horse drawn equipment. :) Dr Q
