RE: [RC] Eliminating the risk of pregnancy in mares - D'Arcy Demianoff-Thompson

I have no idea. I don't own a race track! I can tell
you that the horses have more than one avenue of close
proximity than running down the track. They are in
the paddock area together, they are in the receiving
barn together, and who knows where else. They get
loose. There were two horses within two days when I
was in Delaware that tossed their jockeys and ran
around the race track with LOTS of other horses in
close proximity.

Bottom line if you want to learn about this then go
online and look under any race tracks rules book! I
don't think this topic holds that much interest.

Ok, I hate to be really naïve and ignorant
here....but what liability are we talking about?
Are the colts going to veer from their running and
hop aboard midtrack if the filly is open? Does
sewing her shut also eliminate the heat cycle and/or
odor?

When I was at the track in Delaware two months ago a
filly was rejected from the gate because she was
not.
I asked what that was all about to someone next to
me in the Club House and he said, "race track owners
don't want the liability - this way the liability is
on the horse owner and/or trainer!"

I have not raced my filly yet only, Unanimous Vote,
a stud. So, it is something that I will be asking
Lynn Ashby, my race trainer, when my filly, Ocala
Lilly goes to Delaware. Just imagine how ballistic
you would be knowing that some of the trainers use
"super glue" instead of stitches! Yep, that is what
the guy said to me. "Too bad the trainer didn't
have some super glue with him!"
