[RC] Hay Prices - Ridecamp Guest

==========================================

I picked up 30 bales yesterday in Yerington from the Nevada Hay Growers
Association location. The bales averaged about 97 pounds, 3 string, and the
price was $165.00 a ton.

I paid $232.65, which averages $7.76/bale.  It is alfalfa-grass hay, and I
think it is the last of the baling of last season.
The down side is that I have to pay to get help to load my trailer, and pay for
it to be stacked into my storage. Plus gas for 55 miles r/t.

The delivered or store price of hay is way up because of the high cost of fuel
for all the equipment it takes from the field to your house. Diesel is higher
than regular here in N Nevada.

Also, it seems they ran the rakes down hard to the ground and there is a fair
amount of dirt in it. One clod was the size of a grapefruit. Hard to pay
$165/ton for dirt!!!
