All this talk of cougars and their noises brought to mind a recent 
experience, though it has nothing to do with cougars, but with critter 
noises.

I woke one morning hearing something in the yard that I couldn't for 
the life of me figure out.  It sounded like a cross between a dog and a 
bird. Very strange.  Naturally, I got online to do some research.

I discovered this website, which basically debunks "Bigfoot" noises as 
presented by "reseachers".  Whether you are interested in bigfoot or 
not doesn't matter.... this website has some fascinating and bizarre 
critter noises that are explained in detail.

I discovered that what I heard was very likely a barred owl.  If you've 
got a curious nature, like me, listen to all of the recordings on this 
page... very enlightening!
