Re: [RC] The Future - Truman Prevatt

With I66 being opened all the way through Front Royal to downtown WDC, it was only a matter of time. I remember not so many years ago when you never saw a soul in Ft. Valley and Front Royal was a sleepy country town. Now Front Royal is rapidly becoming a bedroom community for an expanded WDC metro area.

Oh that hill. The last time I was up there it was to crew for Jerry Fruth. The fellow he was riding with made a comment at the check at the river that went something like, "whatever SOB routed the trail to put that hill at 80 miles should be hung."

As a life time member of the OD I am glad to see it get a new home - a home enterly under the control of one property owner.

Frank, In the Newletter it said...."another 5 years, give or take." The problem is whats occuring all over...urban sprawl and development and more landowners to get permission from and liabilty from their part.
This may be a Great Thing for the OD to get more people to come and experience crossing the Shenandoah and smelling the honeysuckle and that brute of a hill at 80 miles... It may also be GREAT for the AERC National Championships to be held this fall in Ft. Valley. They will be worthy of being called Champions.
