[RC] blanketing - Spottedracer

I'm of the opinion that an endurance horse will be required to perform under possible extremes of Temp and Weather. So I feel my horses must be acclimated for those possibilities. With the exception of one (extrememly submissive) horse - all of the others are left out in pasture 24/7 with just a lean-too shelter. No blanketing, no other protection. The one that must be stalled half the day - I turn her out at night in the cold winter, and turn her out in the day during the blistering summer. This keeps her acclimated.

The ONLY time I blanket, is if I've given them a hard enough workout for heavy sweat, in temps under 50 degrees (usually 40's or lower). This blanket is only left on until the horse has cooled and is dry. Basically a 'cooling sheet' - is what we use our blankets for.
