I have a shortbed and a Featherlite gooseneck trailer and have had no problems at all. Most of the clearance problems you hear about are from wide, square camper trailers. Most gooseneck horse trailers, even living-quarters trailers, have some taper to the nose. As long as the nose is tapered, you should have no problem with clearance even at a full ninety-degree turn, without a special hitch.
