Re: [RC] horse angst - Barbara Moulton

there is the right peson for every horse- Joy was a
worthless throwaway in the mind of her adopter.
Little, plain ol Nevada brown, jughead who would push
back with pinned ears, teeth and hooves when you tried
to show her who was boss ( cowboy Scott's training
style)just like her mother did. Mama went down the
road ASAP to be a brood mare at a paint farm- Lucky
for both of us we found each other before the door to
the kill pen opened up for older mustangs or she would
have been out on the range "again" till she got old
enough to run through the sale available to any buyer-
kind of like aging out of special ed, the clock is
always ticking.

This summer I gave away a dog for the first time in my
life- He is now very happy with a hunting family full
of kids and I am no longer trying to turn a
walkerhoundX into the closely
bonded,affectionate,overrgrown lapdog all my former
dogs have been. His attutde was where's the food,
what kid can I play with and leave me alone. Seeing
Huckleberry in the perfect home for him really helped
with the sadness and disapointment.

Barbara
