RE: [RC] weeds - Steph TeeterWhile earth's records show several cycles of climate change 'Global Warming' refers to what scientists consider to be an 'accelerated, induced' rate of climate change, not merely the fact that there is a warming trend. Similarly, the problem with many exotic and invasive species is that they bring 'accelerated, induced' ecological changes. And when an agency (e.g. US Forest Service) is mandated to manage the land relative to a known ecological balance, anything that radically upsets the balance is probably going to be tagged as undesirable. Who decided what is NATIVE? An -active ecosystem is always in a state of change and evolution is the -process of stronger species pushing out weaker ones. Just because -humans are one of the agents that cause such change, it does not mean -that we should try to put our world in stasis. Bio diversity ebbs and -flows and no one has yet determined that increased bio diversity is -always the best end.
