[RC] Bucking uphill - Suzanne Boyd

Okay, I never said horses can't buck uphill. I know from firsthand experience that they can. Also from my firsthand experience: they can buck going downhill, in a pond, while being mounted, crossing a creek and from a complete standstill! I've never heard anyone say that Arabs can't buck but I'm here to tell ya,,,OH YES THEY CAN!! I'm pretty sure every breed can buck, but if anyone knows of a buckless breed, please,,do tell! I still say its easier and safer to canter a known bucker up a long hill. For me its much easier to sit and much easier to get their head up. And it does require more effort on the horses part. I like to give myself the advantage where I can. Lord knows I need all the help I can get!!

As far as what Chris said about checking saddle fit, teeth, ruling out physical problems, I completely agree with her. But if its mental, I'd rather give the horse something else to think about. Make it harder to do the wrong thing and easier to do the right thing.

Suzanne
(I'd take a bucker over a rearer EVERY time!)
