RE: [RC] truck and trailers - David LeBlanc

Diane asked:

My question concerns whether to use the tow haul option on my
truck when I am pulling. It seems that when I do, I use a
lot more fuel. I have a 2002 Chevy 2500 Duramax Diesel. I
did not know that I needed to include the weight of the truck
- if I do that means I would have to use that tow option all
the time. Is it really necessary to use that?

I don't know - have to ask the dealer. I hear good things about the newer
automatic transmissions, but I'd rather have a stick shift any day. I'm
smarter about when to shift than any transmission I've ever seen.

What I was talking about is that the vehicle will have a GCVW rating, which
is the max you can tow (once you add in the truck and passengers), and
that's the best way to judge how much truck you need.
