Rha.e: [RC] Rider doesn't do anything (yeah, right) - Chris Paus

I used to get into this argument with our sports reporter when I worked at the paper. they put horse sports on the society page, gaaaaaaa. I argued and argued that they should be on the sports page.

But the sports editor said, no the horse does all the work. I offered him free riding lessons, but he wouldn't tke me up on it.. too afraid to get near a horse, lOL

Using his logic back on him, I said, how about car racing. that goes on the sports page. Doesn't the car do all the work...LOL (I know better)

I ran down the litany of horse sports. hey what about Polo.. there's a ball, all "real sports" have a ball, right? There's two teams... aha, teams! There's goals and there's referees. What more do you need to have it be a sport?

I reminded him that horse sports have been part of the Olympics since Ancient Greek times. He said, "oh, that was something for the girls to do."  Bwwwaaaahahha. doesn't know his own sports history! "Girls" were not allowed to ride back then, and couldn't even ride in the Olympics until, what the late 50s or early 60s? When the Aussies fielded an eventing team with a girl in it.

But horse sports still haven't made it to the sports page here, except for an occasional story about a rodeo cowboy. sigh....

Had a friend who "thought" the same thing...that the horse does all the work.  She was very adamant about it.  So, I paid for her to take a lesson on a horse used for young kids to learn to ride...a true kid lesson horse.  30 minutes in, she was complaining about how tired she was.
