protecting his inside knee/leg from rub marks.

Here's one to put in your bag of tricks that we did out of necessity - a
friend's kid went on her first LD with my wife, and her mom didn't outfit
her with reasonable riding gear. The poor girl had a horrible rub at the vet
check, so we got a couple rolls of vet wrap and wrapped the kid's legs under
her pants. The last 15 miles were a lot less miserable for her.
