[RC] Tying to trailer = vanished? :) - Diane Trefethen

I have read a number of posts pointing out that if you tie you have to put your horses on the opposite sides of the trailer. This revelation has been couched in terms the implication of which are that somehow the horses will be upset because they cannot see their buddies.

I'm confused.

I mean, we are talking horses here, right? Animals which hear better than humans, have better olfactory senses than humans, like... they can catch the scent/sound of a bear or coyote or mountain lion at well over 1/2 mile while their riders say asinine things like, "Stop being so silly. There's nothing there"... so why would a horse think his buddy had disappeared just because he was 5 feet away on the other side of a lousy trailer?
