It's very hard to hold LD rides during multidays. Usually the multiday rides have big loop rides - 50 miles - and often only 1 vet check at the half way point. To hold an LD ride, you have to have a trail that returns to camp at 25 or 30 miles and has a vetcheck somewhere around 15 miles. Almost impossible to do this on a loop ride. Though I think Death Valley offers LD rides - you just ride to the mid-way point of the 50, and arrange to trailer your horse back to base camp.
 
My point is - sometimes it's not just a matter of choice when multiday rides don't have LD divisions. It's simply a logistical problem.
