Why expect barefoot rears with boots or shoes front to put your horse onto his forehand?

Because unlike the weights in the TWH world, our boots/shoes provide substantial relief from the discomforts of an uneven trail. Thus with protection in front and none in back, especially on rough trail, I would expect horses to try to get off their hind feet faster than their front ones, much like they often wander back and forth on a trail to seek out the softest footing. Your point about breakover is valid too, but I think both factors contribute to how a horse travels.
