[RC] barefoot rears: not "heavy forehand" - Ridecamp Guest

==========================================

Why expect barefoot rears with boots or shoes front to put your horse onto his
forehand? Anything that speeds breakover at the rear in relation to breakover
at the front,as going barefoot does,is going to help put your horse OFF his
forehand.(As witness the horrible Big Lick TWH situation.Those horses are
waaaay off their forehand,because of the weight and retarded breakover that has
been added to their front feet.)Also re traction,that is in some ways
unquantifiable,but it is easy to imagine a boot or even a shoe sometimes giving
less traction than a bare foot. I have noticed no traction issues one way or
the other since going barefoot at the rear,and winter is my main riding season.
My Chico IS heavy on the forehand,and the barefoot rear hooves made a big
improvement.
