[RC] Horse with EPM - Kathleen A. Crothers

My horse, Texas Dually, contacted EPM 5 yrs ago last fall. Within 2 months he
looked like a starved horse from the point of hip back. He was treated and
slowly recovered. I started riding him again after watching him do wheelies in
the pasture and not falling down. This was about 2 months after his treatment.
He now has 1550 en miles and all but one 50 were after he had epm. While real
steep hills are still hard for him and he never did recover 100% of his croup
muscles back he gets the job done and I never felt like he had any problems
from having somewhat unbalanced croup muscles. I don't push him to go fast but
have finished rides around 6 1/2 hrs. which I feel is his best speed. So,
Janelle, don't give up on your horse and do as much as you safely can with him.
Good luck and Happy Trails, Kathy Crothers CT region
