[RC] re:NAIS What it will means to you - Sue Singletary References - Gloria Adams

Dear Sue,

Thank you for your constructive comments: “WOW! And THERE's a real expert!”

Actually, the State Horseman Assn board members have had a presentation about NAIS from this states’ agricultural dept already. So, at this time, they are more informed than you or I about this issue.

In a related comment: “So will the writers who made the statements below please cite the document, section and code that supports their contentions?”

Q. If a Person Only Shows Animals or Only Takes Them to Trail Rides, Do They Need to be Identified?
A.
When people show or commingle their animals with animals from multiple premises, the possibility of spreading disease becomes a factor. Those animals will need to be identified. (note identified, not just microchipped).

Q. What is "Commingling"?
A.
Commingling may be defined as an animal having contact with, or being inter-mixed with, animals other than herdmates from that animal's premises of origin.

You might want to consider reading the above website more thoroughly. Also consider listening to all the mp3 presentations from the United States Secretary of Agriculture Mike Johanns, and others: http://animalid.aphis.usda.gov/nais/newsroom/news_broadcasts.shtml
