[RC] re: saddle twist - David Bennett

I have been told by several female friends who tried
my O-F Stitchdown that they hated it because it was so
uncomfortable. I could not understand this because it
has a very cushy stitchdown seat that is quite
comfortable to me. I've never had a problem with it
fitting me or my horses. However, this saddle is
high and very narrow at the front with a deep gullet.
So, it must not fit female structure very well because
of its being so narrow. I would like it to fit closer
to my horse and not have me feeling like I am riding
high up off his back - but that is a different issue.

On the opposite side of twist width is my problem.
Too narrow a twist will cause severe and painful
rubbing in the crotch, but a slightly wider twist will
allow the pressure to be on the outside points of the
pelvis. I guess each person has his own anatomical
issues.
