I've had friends who thought they had overly
difficult to control or hot-wired horses when all it was is they were
feeding something pre-ride like Complete Advantage that has 20%
molasses. Some people mistakingly believe that since it is a
complete feed and has beet pulp in it that it is okay to feed in
large quantities.>

Very good point, Karen. Definately something to think about. I don't know
about Nutrena Compete, but their Legacy doesn't seem to have too much
molasses, it's based more with corn oil. The Nutrena guy I had talked to
when I was considered the feed said there's only enough molasses to act as a
preservative. I don't know the percentage though. I do know that I've not
experienced the 'hot' horse. Even the tough keepers that get a lot of it
aren't any tougher to ride. I've been feeding Legacy for years. ((No, I
don't sell it, I just like the feed.)) It has worked well for a variety of
horses/mules including pleasure horses that just do an occasional trail
ride.
