[RC] Virginia City 100 - Lucy Chaplin Trumbull

This is from memory and I'm kind of bleary after not
much sleep over the weekend - 62 started, 39 finished.
One horse was treated, but it was a pre-existing
respiratory problem that was caught at the first VC.
Another horse suffered a mild choke. Head vet was Jamie
Kerr, accompanied by the ever-suffering Kevin Lazarscheff
(sp? sorry Kevin) and a new vet to the sport, Erin Taylor
from Comstock.

The weather was glorious - nippy in the morning (27 degrees
at Foothill Market VC at 25 miles), but warmed up nicely -
not too hot, not too cold. THERE WAS NO WIND!!!! (44 degrees
at Cottonwoods VC [~90 miles?] at about 9 pm).

Riders got stung really badly by bees somewhere between
25 and 40 miles - remember to carry Benadryl, they
certainly needed it - I know at least Kristan Flynn,
Haily Daemler (sp?) and Leigh Bacco suffered and got
"peculiar" from being stung.

The rocks were - to quote Dave Rabe, who's been riding
the trail for 800 years - "the worst they've ever been",
particularly through Bailey Canyon.
