[RC] gelding early - Laura Hayes

My husband has gelded colts as early as two weeks of age.  Testosterone stimulates closure of the growth plates of the long bones, so gelding early will result in horses being a little taller than those gelded late, or not at all.

The vast majority of colts are born with testicles decended.
