[RC] Oleander Toxicity Mechanism - Gloria Adams

The sap from an Oleander is similar in chemical structure to another plant, Foxglove.

Foxglove is where Digoxin (digitalis) a heart medicine comes from (used in heart failure & fast heart rate &/or lousy heart contraction problems).

Thus, Oleander’s mechanism is to slow the heart as well as make it contract more forcefully, too slowly in some cases.
