[RC] FEI rule against owners in crewing area - Diane Trefethen

This rule is a perfect example of why so many of us have SUCH a low opinion of FEI. A rule limiting the total number of people in the crewing area by limiting the number of people allowed to crew for each horse/rider team makes sense. But can anyone reading this provide one GOOD reason, ie, one which could not possibly be accommodated in any other way save this rule, why FEI should give a rats ass as to WHO each horse/rider's crew might be? I suspect that with the exception of Royalty, Endurance owners throughout the world are very intimately connected to their horses. At home and at rides, owners are extremely likely to be caregivers to their horses. So why would FEI make a rule that has no basis in need and interferes at the most basic level, that of ministering to the horse, with the smooth running of the ride?

There is some consternation regarding the credentials. Only certsain people can get into the vetcheck area to help the riders. Some of the crew are the owners of the horse... well, the Owners are not allowed
in the crewing area...
