[RC] Checking a horse's eyes - Heidi Vanderbilt

Does anyone know how to have this done? My vet waves his hand at the horse and if he blinks or flinches, he says "Yup, he sees". But I have a horse who i suspect has vision difficulties of a more subtle sort. For example, when he went to a trainer, the horse recognized him by his white hat. If the trainer came into the barn bare-headed, the horse spooked.

Are there eye tests? equine opthomologists? (spell check says i've got this wrong but i can't figure out how to spell it), Is there a test or two i could perform myself?

thanks

heidi
