EXACTLY....we are talking pain relievers, anti-inflammatory drugs, Not steroids....Even if we took steroids how would that help us as riders? Would we be so bulked up the horses would ride us?:)

 I know as a middle aged rider that I need to use it or lose it...my middle aged joint aches and sore places do not improve on the days I don't ride...If I am sore I take a Motrin 800mg it enables me to get through my day and ride also..

I do not become a grand prix distance rider or dressage rider as a result..too bad!!!
