I don't know Cindy; I have never met her or even heard of her. But it is
statements like those above that are keeping new people away from the sport.

No, it's not. Not at all. How on God's green earth could "statements
like that" keep ANYONE away from the sport?

...
I do not intend to start the whole LD is not endurance discussion. That
horse has been beaten to death. I just don't appreciate the "holier than
thou" attitude that some long time riders hold. Some bemoan the decline of
the 100 while at the same time making fun of and belittling those who are
just starting out in the sport with the LD's. HELLO.. Those LD riders are
the next crop of 100 riders!

Cindy did not in any way whatsoever make fun of or belittle LD riders.
She did make a true statement about SOME people who want to ride an LD
or two and then claim to be endurance riders (or that their horses are
endurance horses), instead of doing what it takes to EARN that
appelation.

This is related to Angie's concerns about Truman's "100 mile horse"
award being given to horses that did their 100 miles in two or three
days. Sure, they completed a 100 mile event, but two- and three-day
100's are not the same as a one-day 100 (that's why the AERC gives
extra bonus points to one-day 100's but not two-day 100's). Apples
and oranges.
