[RC] Re:Stirring up Hornet's Nest - Mary Howell

I have a vivid memory from the second loop of the Pan Ams in Vermont about 5
years ago...several of us were cantering pretty for the photographer across
a field of green when we started hearing shouts from riders slightly ahead
of us who'd had the misfortune to stir up a next of ground bees.

By the time my horse got to the site, the bees were off chasing the earlier
horses and had pretty well dispersed. I got stung on the back of my neck and
seem to remember several horses being stung fairly seriously...

Just last week, while weedeating along my fenceline, I was stung in two
places and couldn't believe how much my one leg swelled and how much it hurt
even 24 hours later...is it just me or are stinging insects getting more
powerful these days?
