[RC] The Horse's Prerogative - Dodie Sable

Title: Message

I have not witnessed a horse volunteering to jump for the fun of it,

~~~~~~~~~
I have, and I'll even take a video for you if you'd like.  I have an 11 year old Dutch Warmblood mare that was National Champion before she injured herself over a jump and was retired to broodmare status.  When she's turned out in the ring, she runs a pattern over the fences all the time.  It's a remarkable thing to watch this mare execute perfect patterns with no human in the ring to guide her.  And I have a mule colt who lives to jump anything he can find.  A tree was downed in a storm recently and he spent over an hour jumping back and forth over this tree in the pasture.  He worked himself into a sweat and we finally went out with a chainsaw and took it down.  I was afraid he'd get a heart attack in the heat.
