I appreciate your comments.  I tend to agree with what you think about the cramping instead of tying up especially since he was peeing clear.  I also thought about the "frame" work and thought that it may be a contributing factor.  He has worked with the martingale in the past few weeks, no more or less duration.    He was not sweating unduly but as I mentioned there was a good breeze so that may be deceptive.
 
I was thinking that another contributing factor may also be due to electrolytes since this is only Buddy's  second summer in Yuma and last year was not nearly as hot. I don't think he has totally adapted to the hot weather here even though I see his coat and skin changing dramatically.  I feel I should probably have had him on a little more aggressive electrolyte protocol.
