I haven't posted in ages, primarily due to time constraints, but I 
couldn't pass up making a comment on the subject of glowsticks...it's 
actually a funny incident that happened to my riding buddy, Aarene.

Aarene was doing her last loop in the dark at a ride early in the 
season (Home on the Range), located in central Washington.  As she 
and Billy were walking along in the dark (open area, not many trees) 
with glowsticks out as "ribbons", she thought she was maybe 
hallucinating, maybe hypoglycemic...eyes were acting funny.  A 
glowstick she was headed towards (but still way off in the distance) 
kept bobbing up and down, up and down...very steady rhythm...very 
weird!  She had just started doing longer distances so wasn't really 
totally tuned in yet to what her body might do in the dark.

When she finally neared the bobbing glowstick, it was in the mouth of 
a cow who was slowly making his way across open area near the 
trail!  This cow was in the group that had eaten many of the ribbons 
a couple of days before the ride, necessitating Gail going out and 
remarking a fair amount of the trail on that Friday.

And here, all along, I thought it was goats who would eat anything!! <g>
