I have to put in a quick word on this...it is  probably not about money...the cost of his care to this point is more than I want to think about and he has a long way to go. Even if he can breed it will be difficult to recoup all the money. Horse racing is a rich business...you do it because you have money not because you want to make it. ( Honestly as is most of the horse world) I worked in the race industry and the money they spent to breed, raise, train, and race Barabaro was probably just re couped by his winnings...same thing goes here. Money can come into it and certainly there are the lucky ones who make money at it...good pinhookers and such...but rarely the owners. In this case I think they like their horse. Matz is a top notch guy too so I am sure he is in it for the horse.
