RE: [RC] setting records - heidi

Granted, hubby and I did it "drive and load" style (somewhat like ride and tie, where we take turns being the driver or the bale picker-upper-and-stacker) but we just dragged our sorry butts back in the house from a 196-bale day (which also included the horse shoer, a trip to town early for a dental appointment and a trip later for a few hours of the "day job"...)

Sad to say, we need to nearly double that number tomorrow...

As for eating your hearts out, this is nice mountain meadow hay, a mix of about 5 different very palatable grasses with an occasional dash of alfalfa, and all it cost us was my time with an irrigation shovel, Paul's time and a modest rental on the neighbor's swather, 15% of the field (roughly 35 acres) for the neighbor that is baling it for us, and our time and fuel to pick it up.  (And it is right next door!)  The only thing that would get any better than this would be having a stout teenager to load and stack it.... <sigh>

Heidi

I beat my own record for haying this weekend. Yesterday I was working
solo with just a driver and picked up 133 bales in the field and stacked
them in the barn by myself when I got home. (no it was not my
idea...necessity)  That was after doing 132 bales Saturday with just one
daughter helping load (Bill was out of town...felt very guilty but
secretly relieved I'm sure).  By the way, $2.50 in the field for
*gorgeous* Coastal Bermuda. Eat your hearts out. :-)

Angie >I hurt<

P.S. This is good training for a 100. A 100 would feel like a picnic
after yesterday)
