RE: [RC] [RC] Leg protection while traveling, pre- and post-ride - Juli JakubWell behind in posts...lots going on....sorry...I wrap for two reasons...I have had a horse get her legs over a manger and if she was not wrapped she would have sliced her tendons and probably been put down...secondly I was taught it has nothing to do with concussion...wrapping helps keep swelling down that is caused by standing in a trailer for long period of times with those vibrations. Some horses don't need it. I was just taught to do it as a precaution for leg swelling. I prefer to err on the side of safety if my horses act up for some reason or want to swell because of trailering or work. Maybe they support too...I have no idea but that was not the reason i was taught to wrap and I use to wrap after every jumping session and for all trailering even just 1/2 hour rides. I invest in good quilts, good wraps, and I know how to wrap properly...even if I clay, wet paper bag, and then quilt wrap one horse takes about ten minutes...if just putting quilts and bandages on 5 minutes. Not a big deal and it saved my filly's career. Just my two cents. Cheers, Juli Juli Jakub The Air of Heaven is that which blows between a horse's ears. ~ arabian proverb
