[RC] best way to prevent scratches?? - Jennifer AdamHi all -What is the best way to prevent scratches? It's been so dry here that my pond is the lowest it's ever been and the horses have discovered that they can cross a low spot and get to a little spit of land that sticks out on the opposite bank. Two of them have rear white socks and I think walking through the pond mud and water is irritating the skin on their fetlocks. Their heels are beginning to look red - right now I'm putting MicroTek medicated gel or spray on their legs, but if there is a better, more economical way to prevent scratches I sure would like to know what it is. I know some people put Desitin, Vaseline, or A&D ointment on them before a ride, but are those practical to use every day when the horses are out in pasture? I just envision dirt sticking to the greasy ointment and making a big mess... Thanks for any advice - Jen and the wild bunch (aka the mustang swim team) _________________________________________________________________ Is your PC infected?
