Re: [RC] Freezing Electrolytes - Sisu West Ranch

The active ingreedients in electrolytes are Salts (NaCl, KCl, CaCO3, etc) As such they are stable for geologic time intervals. The NaCl that is mined around the world has been sitting there for hundreds of millions of years.

Some electrolyte mixes use some organic anions (Calcium Acetate was used in one brand I used) These are less stable. They probably would undergo significant changes in only a few hundred years of dry room temperature storage.

The Apple sauce in the mix will decompose in a few days at room temperature, due to the action of bacteria, yeast and mold. It will keep for years in a food freezer.

The bottom line: Since the Apple Sauce is the most likely to go "bad" I wouldn't worry about feeding mixed electrolytes if the carrier was OK.
