I have known Tom for about 15 years. I have trained with him in running, 
riding and ride and tie. He is focused and VERY self assured. And 
rightly so. He knows what to do, how to do it, does it and gets results.

In addition to that he is a very competent engineer and manager. He has 
managed international offices for the firm he is a partner in and is 
used to making decisions and taking responsibility.

One of the reasons that Tom was selected was to try some new methods and 
let the riders do more of their own thing. At the same time he provides 
expertise and continuity. Maybe he has too much Ride and Tie and western 
sensibilities in him to be acceptable to the Eastern sorts, or the Big 
Machine.  USEF has a history of wanting to control the riders and 
horses. I recall seeing that at the last WEC. We were under the thumb 
and I know my horse suffered from it. (Being forced to use new 
electrolytes and carrier mix on race day he has never had before, among 
other things....)

With or without him the riders have had 15 months of his guidance, or 
freedom from such......
It will have an impact on our country's performance.

Thank you Tom, and I hope that the riders make the decisions and NOT 
some committee that does not have a horse in the race.
