Re: [RC] Exercises for riders - Curves - rides2far

I think that barn chores are the best exercise.

Only problem with that is it makes me really one sided. I can't even
switch which hand's on top when I sweep! Now...for my husband, I don't
*care* if he's one sided, so I encourage him to dig post holes if he
thinks he needs to exercise.

I do have my "barnyard" workout. Part of which includes taking a bale of
hay down a steep hill with a wheelbarrow then pushing the empty
wheelbarrow back up the hill. Recently went on a hike with my younger
"athlete" nephews and they were wheezing going up out of a gorge and I
was fine. They commented that I sure was in shape and I was just thinking
how easy it was to climb a hill *without* a wheelbarrow!

This morning I could feel sore muscles all the way around my chest when
I took a deep breath. It was from the Curves workout yesterday. I told
Bill that's the first time I've been sore there other than after doing a
50 on Kaboot and trying to hold him back the whole time. Maybe after I do
this workout a few more months it won't take so much out of me to ride
him! One more benefit. There are 3 different stations that *closely*
mimic picking up bales of hay and stacking them. I figure I've got 3
weeks till we start putting up hay and I'm hoping to be able to put it a
little higher this year. I can just feel it falling down my shirt now.
ick!<
