[RC] Eye Infections and sinus flush - Kathleen

Title: Eye Infections and sinus flush

Many years ago, one of my horses developed an eye infection.  He was at a boarding stable and several horses developed the same infection which the vet felt was being transmitted by flies.

My vet flushed his sinus cavities right away.  It was gross; lots of nasty looking stuff came out of his tear ducts but he obviously had instant relief too.  We then treated his eyes with ointment and kept a clean fly mask on him 24 hours a day.  I bought a couple extras and put a clean one on every evening and took the one he had on home and ran it through the washing machine with warm water and soap and a hot rinse.  His eyes cleared right up and he was a much happier pony.  The horses that got the same treatment as my horse cleared up quickly and the horses that didnt get the clean masks everyday and the flush took much longer to clear their infections.
