I talked with the lady that owns the foal and it is
windswept legs she is dealing with. I've had a lot of people email me offering
advice and its appreciated. I just want to clarify that this isn't a mild case
that will correct itself with exercise, the foal was allowed to walk around
(hobble is more like it) and stay with his dam the first week and his legs got
progressively worse. They are to the point where the knee joint on the left leg
is bent to the right so much that it is centered almost under the right
shoulder. One of the reasons he was weaned so young is because he couldn't stand
well enough to nurse as he needed. Her vet will be back out today and I gave her
several links on casting and braces for this problem. Please keep this guy in
your prayers.
