Re: [RC] 100 miles in a Bob Marshall or other treeless - Karen Sullivan

Keith,

I am group owner/moderator of the treeless saddle discussion group on yahoo:

www.groups.yahoo.com/group/treelesssaddles

Saddles I have heard used successfully on 100 mile rides are the Bob
Marshall Sport saddles;
Barefoot Cheyenne, and the Freeform's. But don't just assume one will work
for you. Some folks can't deal with the lack of twist on the Sport Saddle
(Chris Martin just posted about this on the treeless group on 100 mile
rides); however Karen Chaton has an amazingly number of miles in hers. But
she is petite woman, Chris is tall, lanky guy. Some horses (mine) can't use
the sport saddle due fixed pommel with too narrow base (is fine in
Barefoot...and the Freeform has a better system of weight distribution built
into the saddle than either (although the sport saddles and Barefoots can be
made to work with the right pads.). Like treed saddles; treeless need some
tweaking and experimentation....

You can email me personally for opinions on Hilason.

Feel free to visit the treeless group; there is a lot of information, photos
and links.

Startrekk saddles have much more structure than most, and have velcro panels
underneath you can move around. They also should distribute weight well,
and come in different pommel widths, two seat sizes, two stirrup positions,
etc.

Freeform has probably the narrowest twist and is a close contender for most
comfortable seat!

Sensation's also have design to distribute weight well; designed up in
Canada and also tested (as with Barefoot and Freeform; by endurance
riders)....
Karen

I also am really interested in this as I am looking at going treeless.
Also
the same question as Jennifer for Hilason saddles please.

Quick saddle question - Has anyone done 100 miles in a Bob Marshall
sports
saddle? If so, what did you think?

Has anyone done 100 in a different treeless saddle?

You can email me privately with comments -
Thanks,
Jen
