Re: [RC] Non-Arabs in Endurance - Laney HumphreyI also ride a Spanish Mustang (AERC # H30220). He has always lived with and ridden with arabs so I think he think he is one. He does take more careful conditioning but, at the speed I like to go, he keeps up with his arab trail mates just fine. And remember that it takes any horse, no matter what breed, a while to figure out how to take care of himself out on the trail. Your husband's horse can learn from your arab. Well, maybe. SMs do have a different mental attitude; a very strong self preservation instinct. Dino, at age 11, is just deciding it's ok to put his head down to grab a bite of grass along the trail. Until now, he has always needed to have time to scout the entire area (for cougars I guess) before he would put his head down. That process took too long. But now, with some maturity, he seems willing to risk a momentary lapse in wariness to join his arab friends in grabbing a bite as he goes.Laney Nikki McCormack wrote: Hi all, =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
