Re: [RC] half arab x arab cross - Pvan19

Thanks for all your explanations - especially Laney - I think I understand a little better now.. must be quite confusing though when a given horse is registered with different organisations ( like once for breed and once for colour?)

Here in France horses are registered once, with the state organisation, and than you can become a member of different groups depending on your interest.. but whatever you do the horse can only have one set of papers here

Currently BIG drawback of this system is that the french federation has closed endurance competition to un registered horses a couple of years ago so there is a generation of horses in France with potential but who can't participate in official competitions..not to mention those horses imported from abroad of which the breed is not necessarily recognised here!

long term I suppose the goal is to have more horses registered (and yes ofcourse you do pay for that and have to do paperwork...)  so that they can be used for spotting good blood lines and breeding..

strange Rob your comment - half arab should be half arab, no matter what the other half is?! Sounds a bit snobby?!

The Arab Registry does not except all 1/2 Arabs. I had one out of a fine
registered, pure blood, Crabbet Arabian Mare. They wouldn't let me register
the 1/2 Arab. It's too bad she was a fine mule.
