[RC] Protection of leather saddle in bad weather - Pvan19

I use Gaston Mercier saddles - the leather is basically treated for life so I only clean it with glycerine soap maybe three times a year. And we do live in a rainy part of France!

the other advantage is that you don't need to break your saddle in - it's supple right from the start

can't think why other endurance saddle manufacturers don't use this type of leather !

Major progress has been made in leather treatments over the past few years - the Mirapel tm treatment for example from Pittards in the UK that's used on the leather boots we sell here in France - the leather is completely waterproof, breathable, stays supple no matter how wet it gets and requires hardly any conditioning - we've tested this in very muddy conditions for over 5 years and it's amazing!

Now have loads of space in cupboards too as have given away all my bottles of neatsfoot oil, conditoner, leatherbalsam, ... great!
