I have used Dr. Cook's bitless bridle almost
exclusively in endurance rides w/ 4 different horses. When I have needed
extra control at the beginning of a ride I have used a running martingale w/ it
on 3 of the horses and it has been sufficient. The 4th horse still needed a bit
at the beginning and then later in the ride switched to a
bitless. Hope this helps!
